Alice's Adventures in wonderland & Through the looking-glass
Author: Lewis Carroll
Alice faces many conflicts during her journey through Wonderland and through the Looking-Glass World. She faces a conflict whenever she meets a new character on her journey. The reason why she has a conflict with the characters is because she is confronted with the characters' rules and behaviors. She is also faced with the conflict of whether or not to trust each character. The first "major" conflict is when she can't get into the garden, she runs into many complications during this process. She falls into a pool of her own tears because she had shrunk, she gets into a race with a group of creatures, she grows too large, and she can't find the key. Another conflict that she faces is when she meets the Queen of Hearts. All the Queen wants to do is behead people, and this worries Alice. She overcomes that conflict though because she escapes the beheading. One of the final conflicts that Alice faces is when she is the White Pawn in the Chess game. She needs to move from the second square to the eight square so she can become queen. The conflict here is that she has to go on yet another journey and she doesn't know if she'll be able too.
Overall, the major conflict throughout the whole book is that she changes sizes and faces many personal problems but somehow overcomes them. She also struggles to determine whether or not she is simply in a dream, or if its real life. |
